The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) Model has received a 2026 FORUM Innovation Award, recognizing the collaboration and technical execution behind the initiative. This year’s winners were honored at the 12th annual FORUM Innovation Awards on June 18 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.
Unissant supports WISeR through the Electronic Submission of Medical Documentation (esMD) platform, which provides the secure digital foundation for exchanging clinical documentation across program participants. The Unissant team helped address complex cloud integration requirements and support operational readiness for the model.
“WISeR demonstrates how technology can strengthen program integrity while keeping the focus on better outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries,” said Ian Graham, General Manager, Federal Health at Unissant. “Our team is proud to support the secure exchange of clinical information that helps CMS and its partners make timely, informed decisions.”
The WISeR Model uses enhanced technology and clinical review to help reduce low-value care, protect Medicare beneficiaries, and strengthen stewardship of public resources. The FORUM Innovation Award recognizes the kind of mission-focused collaboration required to bring that work into operation.
