Unissant System Implementation Support Helps the United States Mint Successfully Launch New eCommerce Web Site

Reston, Virginia, October 1, 2014 – The United States Mint (US Mint) announced today the successful launch of its new eCommerce web site, Order Management System II (OMS II), to support the retail sales program for numismatic products: http://catalog.usmint.gov. The OMS II eCommerce web site enables the US Mint to generate over $500MM in revenue annually in numismatic / coin sales. The US Mint selected Unissant to provide System Implementation Support (SIS) to the OMS II Program Management Office (PMO) during the one-year implementation effort. The OMS II implementation effort was completed on time and within budget.

During the implementation of OMS II, which began September 2013, Unissant applied CMMI Maturity Level 3 best practices to provide Program Management and System Implementation Support. Unissant provided business process analysis expertise and support to define and manage over 1,000 distinct requirements, identify training needs, and plan transition activities. Unissant also provided technical subject matter expertise to define 11 interfaces for external system integrations (including integrations with Pay.gov, Citibank, and the US Treasury Financial Systems) and successful data migration for over 105 million records from legacy systems to OMS II. Unissant completed an organization assessment within 90 days for the US Mint to prepare for the implementation of OMS II. The US Mint relied on Unissant to provide testing subject matter expertise to ensure verification of requirements including development and execution of over 1,000 test scripts using industry standard web browsers. Unissant also supported the US Mint with expertise to develop standard operating procedures for over 120 discrete processes as the OMS II system moved to operations and maintenance (O&M) mode. Unissant provided program and project management support for the project management triple constraints (cost, schedule, and performance) along with compliance with Information Assurance and Privacy Act requirements was provided throughout the implementation effort.
